PGA TOUR Champions event at Sherwood Country Club
renamed Invesco QQQ Championship
Charles Schwab Cup Playoffs event returns to Sherwood C.C. October 26-28
THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – Tournament officials announced today that the PowerShares QQQ Championship has been renamed the Invesco QQQ Championship. The newly rebranded tournament, which is the second of three events in the Charles Schwab Cup Playoffs, will be held in Thousand Oaks, California at Sherwood Country Club from October 22-28, 2018.
The announcement comes just months after the tournament’s title sponsor nationally announced it was moving to a unified global brand –bringing the PowerShares brand name and its ETF product line-up under the sole brand of Invesco. By the end of the year, all sub brands, including PowerShares, will be re-named under the one brand: Invesco."
“We continue to evolve our strong legacy of helping our clients achieve their specific investment goals through customized investment solutions across active, passive and alternative capabilities under a unified Invesco brand,” said Dan Draper, Global head of ETFs at Invesco. “We look forward to our ongoing relationship with PGA TOUR Champions and collectively strengthening our respective brands through this fantastic partnership.
This fall marks the third year that the Invesco QQQ Championship has been hosted at Sherwood Country Club. When the top 54 players in the Charles Schwab Cup standings descend on Thousand Oaks, they will be competing for a chance to be one of the 36 PGA TOUR Champions players who advance to the final Playoffs event in Phoenix, Arizona.
“Since being introduced to the Charles Schwab Cup Playoffs in 2016, Invesco QQQ has been a tremendous partner for PGA TOUR Champions,” said executive director, Phil Bough. “It has been a pleasure growing the identity of this tournament and its community footprint together, and we look forward to the new energy this name change will bring to the community of Thousand Oaks and the greater Conejo Valley.”
