Joni and Friends provides practical support and spiritual help to families affected by disability and equips thousands of churches to develop disability ministries both here in the local community, and abroad. Whether it is a person affected by disability, a family member, or a friend, Joni and Friends' objective is to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of this group of people in practical ways.
Here in Agoura Hills, the Joni and Friends International Disability Center serves as the administrative hub for an array of programs which provides outreach to thousands of families affected by disability. These programs include Wheels for the World international wheelchair distribution ministry, and Family Retreats. Wheels for the World has delivered over 100,000 wheelchairs worldwide to children and adults living with disability since 1994. Offered in both the U.S. and internationally, Family Retreat provides respite and support to families in a safe, accessible family camp environment.
Joni and Friends was established in 1979 by Joni Eareckson Tada, who at 17 was injured in a diving accident, leaving her a quadriplegic. Joni has, in the ensuing 40 years, become an author, speaker, artist, and radio & TV host. She uses her global influence as an advocate for disability issues, and shares the love of Jesus Christ to people in need of help and hope.
